Race was thrilling!

I had been to Race hindi movie yesterday. Directed by Abbas Mastan. I was not interested to watch the movie since i felt this was not the type of movie i like. Then we went in. First 20-30 minutes were boring. And half of the first half was very bad.

And what was that song “lets rock the dance floor” all about. Very bad choreography and dance as u wish. First half was almost going to be boring, by when started the suspense things of Akshaye-Bipasha’s sketches and tactics.

Then the director leaves us with lot of interest as he stops the first half with the murder of Saif and entrance of Anil Kapoor Sameera Reddy from police department. For few minutes of second half are filled with some bad jokes of Anil Kapoor - Sameera Reddy. We take some time to get adjusted to their level of humour. And Anil always eating a fruit seems foolish in starting, but later he leaves us by saying “from now onwards i wont eat fruits, i’l eat dry fruits.”

The real thrill starts after this. I was taken aback when i saw Saif entering coming into the picture on the top of the building all of a sudden, when Bipasha is about to be killed. The director from now onwards shows us great revealings which makes us feel what to believe and what not to. Something is true this moment, and in sometime, it get overruled, yet again the new thing gets overruled by another new twist. I can say lot of twists in the movie surprises us. And these twists are the main plus points of the movie.

Then there is the most thrilling and breathtaking scene of car race between the brothers Saif and Akshaye. Picturised very well on great roads. When we thought it was the end of all, we are again surprised to see yet another twist. I can say the last 30-45 minutes of the film makes glued to the seat and also get up and jump out of our seats.

As a whole, movie is not at all good in first half most parts. It was all waste including useless songs and scenes. But the half of the second half compensates for all the shortcomings of first half.

Now coming to performance, there is nothing like performance based roles in the movie. Saif and Akshaye carry the whole weight of film performance. Bipasha looked good for me at certain points. But Katrina, don’t know why din’t look good for me. And both their performance… They are in the film just as dolls for presence and dance and _________. Then Anil Kapoor is good as police officer. Sameera succeeds to some extent to be foolish on screen, but her acting fails.

Music- hmmm only one song, “pehli nazar mein kaisa jaadoo kar diya… oh jaane jaa” by Atif is too good. But this song gets over so soon. Other songs are torture to listen to. And “race is on my heart” is average good and picturised well. Never ask about lyrics: zara zara kiss me kiss me kiss me.. hold me hold me .. baby baby.. check it out- thats all the lyrics. But re-recording is good. That too in the climax racing scene, the theme “race is on my heart. race is in my soul” is used very well. The ending flashback scenes reminded me of scooby doo cartoon series.

Technical aspects, camera work is too good. Great glamorous colour schemes in each set of scenes. And digital grading is used well in the scene where Saif is pushed from the building top. And i am sure this film MUST be copied from some or the other hollywood film. And i am sure all the ideas were not from abbas mastan, may be some of their juniors and others helped them.

And the film is produced lavishly by tips films. These people were earlier good at audio. Now they came down in audio market, and through such films they are making good money. And

At last, it was a nice thrilling experience.

Addendum: editing and adding some things.. now im feeling that the song “race saason ki… nashaa.. nashaa.. alla duhaari hai” by sunidhi is nice. Now searching for its mp3. And that song “zara zara kiss me” song’s singer’s voice is sensuous than katrina kaif. And i searched the net, and came to know some girl “Monali” sung that song. Dont know who this new singing sensation is.. but very good talent. Even now, the raps and add-on whispers are irritating me like anything. And while watching the film, i was wondering again and again, “is this film really indian? where are indians?” And in between, the very interesting thing is that we find all faaareeeners everywhere and important roles are by indians. how come? Then later came to know all these are NRIs.
